Districts of Puntarenas

Puntarenas is the first district of the canton of Puntarenas. Puntarenas which means sand point is the capital city of the Province of Puntarenas. This district also attracts many tourists, especially surfers. Pitahaya is the second district of the canton of Puntarenas

Chomes is the third district of the canton of Puntarenas

Lepanto is the fourth district of the canton of Puntarenas

Paquera is the fifth district of the canton of Puntarenas

Manzanillo is the sixth district of the canton of Puntarenas

Guacimal is the seventh district of the canton of Puntarenas

Barranca is the eighth district of the canton of Puntarenas

Monteverde is the ninth district of the canton of Puntarenas. This district is home to a small town which is roughly a four hour drive from the Central Valley, Monteverde is known as major ecotourism destination in Costa Rica. The areas is host to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve which National Geographic has called the jewel in the crown of cloud forest reserves and also draws a considerable numbers of tourists and naturalists to this area.

Quepos is the first district in Aguirre. Quepos is the gateway to Manuel Antonio National Park and this has made this district very tourism-oriented with many bars and restaurants and a vivacious night-life all adding to the tourism service. The name of the town is derived from the native Quepo Indians who inhabited this area in the colonial era.

Savegre is the second district in Aguirre

Naranjito is the third district in Aguirre

 

Golfito is the first district in Golfito. The district lies on a narrow strip of land and is made up of of two parts, the town and shopping area to the south, and a residential area near the port to the north, Further north these is a duty-free zone and an airstrip. The beaches calm water provides for many peaceful tourist activities in the region and is considered to be home to some of the most attractive beaches in the country. In 2006 sport fishing has become the most significant tourist attraction in this district.

Puerto Jiménez is the second district in Golfito. Puerto Jiménez is home to the largest town on the Osa Peninsula with a population of just about 1,785 and it is serviced by the Puerto Jiménez Airport. This district is most famous for its gold mining and logging.

Jacó is the first district in Garabito. The little district of Jacó see a large amount of tourists every year; this is because of Jacó beach which is 2.5 miles or 4 km long and offers some the best surfing in Costa Rica, also this little city has all the luxuries of a major city and the people here are very friendly. This district is located about an hour drive from San Juan International airport making it easily accessible for tourists and has everything you would want from Costa Rica.
